How it works
From the free call to signed papers
Five steps, usually over three to five weeks. You can do every one of them from home.
- 01
Step 1: A free twenty-minute call
Call the Nebraska or Iowa line, or send the form. We ask who the plan is for and roughly what you own, then name the package and its fee.
- 02
Step 2: A one-page fee letter
It names the package, the price and what’s left out. Sign it on your phone; nothing is drafted until you do.
- 03
Step 3: The planning meeting
About an hour, by video or at our Underwood Avenue office. Grown children can join if the parent says so.
- 04
Step 4: Drafts to read at home
Plain-English summaries with the documents. Ask what you like; every change before signing is part of the fee.
- 05
Step 5: Signing day
At our office, or at your home in Omaha or Council Bluffs with our notary and two witnesses. You leave with the originals and a scan of every page.
Small things people ask about the process
Do we need to bring anything to the meeting?
A rough list of what you own and who you’d name. Account numbers can wait until we’re drafting.
What if a parent has trouble hearing on video?
We can turn on captions, meet by phone, or come to the house for the meeting as well as the signing.
Where are the originals kept?
With you. We keep a scanned copy, and we’ll tell your executor or trustee where to find it if you ask us to.
Start with twenty minutes on the phone
Twenty minutes, free, and you’ll know the fee at the end of it.
